In MemoriumAlbert Harrison MooreProfessor Emeritus Moore died at home on December 9, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Berneice Constance Walker; by his sister Marge Stuart and brother-in-law Russell of Garden City, New York; by his children, Thomas, Lois Ann and husband Tom Stoffel, Carolyn and husband Clayton Rector, Leslie, and Bob; by his five grandchildren, Chad Stoffel, Criag Stoffel, Vanesa Williams and husband Eric, Sara Salupo, and Warner Hopkins; and by three great-grandchildren. Professor Moore was born February 5, 1921 in New York City, New York to Alfred Charles and Harriet Harrison Moore. He was a resident of Beavercreek since 1961. He received a BS from Pratt Institute, a MS from New York University and Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics from The Ohio State University. He was a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics in the Graduate School of Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He retired in 1990 after 29 years. He also worked as a Research Professor at Wright State until 1992.During World War II he served as a radar specialist (ENS-Full LT), U. S. Naval Reserve 1942-1944 on the USS St. Louis in the Pacific. He was dedicated to helping others reach their educational and career goals. He was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church, 2701 S. Smithville Rd. A Memorial service will be held at the church at 1 p..m. Saturday December 17th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations sent to the Alzheimer’s Association of Dayton for their support during his wife’s illness. From The Dayton Daily News, 13 December 2005.
