		Dean Emeritus Reginald H. Downing Dr. Downing, born in 1908, received his BA at Acadia University (Nova Scotia) and his MS and Ph.D. at West Virginia University. He held various positions as mathematics instructor and engineering mathematician (1934-1947) before joining the AFIT faculty. His AFIT service included several positions of increasing responsibility: Associate Professor of Mathematics, 1947-1949 Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics 1949-1951 Dean, Resident College, 1951-1956 Director of Resident Instruction Division 1956-1958 Dean of Faculty, 1958-1962 Dean, School of Engineering, 1962-1969 Director of Academic Affairs, 1969-1974 Dr. Downing retired June 30, 1974 and died in 1987. He is remembered as a professor, educator, administrator, scientist, engineer, and friend.
