Professor Emeritus Jerzy LubelfeldProfessor Lubelfeld, born in Poland in 1907, received a B.Sc. degree in mathematics and a Dip. Ing. degree in telecommunications, both from the University of Warsaw. He served in the Polish Navy, including assignments with the Polish Naval College and as Deputy to the Chief of Land Communications, and retired in the rank of Commander in 1948. After the war, he taught at the University of Detroit (1948-54) and then joined the Electrical Engineering department at AFIT. He contributed to AFIT's excellence through his professionalism, superior teaching ability, and his leading role in the development of the state-of-the-art laboratories. In 1976, he was honored with the prestigious award from the institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers - the Harrell V. Noble Award - for his contribution to the field of electron devices. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 1977, and died in 1986.
